Why Am I Gaining Weight?

What is up with this weight gain? I’ve gained 30 lbs since finding out about Mr.E’s azoospermia! Thirty freaking pounds! And ten of that has been in the last 2 weeks.

Is it the BCP for IVF? Or is it just stress? Does anybody know how to make it stop?

I think I’m going to sign up for the weight watchers online thing. I feel like that’s the only solution.

Let me know if anybody has any other ideas. I’d like to blame it on the BCP, but it’s probably me :/

  1. I think it’s probably the stress in combination with the hormones 😦 I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way, it totally sucks. It may be difficult to start weight watchers in the midst of all you’re going thru right now, but you know yourself. I would highly recommend taking a 45 min to 1 hour walk each day. Also try to stay away from carbs & sugar as much as possible, and drink lots of water. My advice 🙂

  2. Five years ago I gained a whopping 15 pounds in three months and nothing in my life had changed. I later learned it was due to pcos. :/. I totally feel your pain on unexpected weight gain :/

  3. Girl I am right there with you! For me it’s too hard to focus on dieting at the same time. I can do an anti inflammatory diet which helped me lose 5 pounds, but that’s only because I know it’s helping with fertility.

  4. I totally agree with other’s comments, stress and fertility treatments put me up fifty whopping pounds!! My doctor was so worried about the safety of me and baby should I get pregnant that he started me on an appetite suppressant called Phentermine. It was a miracle drug! I lost the 50 pounds plus a few more. We just got our BFP last month so I had to stop the medication but it totally helped me not spiral out of control from weight gain from the fertility meds. I heard that they gave pregnant women this drug during pregnancy in the 1970’s if they were gaining too much weight…interesting!! I also used the app my fitness pal to log everything I are, switched to a low carb diet with daily protein above 70-80. You can set the calories etc, this app is awesome and FREE!! Good luck, I know it’s really tough!

  5. When I started birth control pill when my husband and I first got married I gained 20 pounds super quickly. Same thing happened to my sister. I talked to my general practitioner doctor rather than ob/gyn and he had a little book that he pulled out with all the birth control options. And which pills could have possible side effects depending on your body type. He put me on another pill that I think had a little less estrogen and I didn’t have any more weight gain problems. I’m not sure with IVF if you can switch to another pill but it may be worth looking into? i hope this makes sense!

P.S. Sorry, I feel for you! It’s already stressful enough without having to add the weight gain.
